Brushes Sample Style Sheet

I have done a few of the Sheets for the Photo books.

For the Stars style sheet, I created a New Brush in Illustrator with a series of stars. I worked with shapes and gradient to give the sheet a glow. In Photoshop, I cut out the center white so the photo could be placed in the middle.

In Framed, I also created it in Illustrator. I drew out a frame holder, drew out a rectangle and framed that with a special brush.

Eiffel Tower was done in Photoshop and Illustrator - just a very simple layout that one could place their photos in. I used the sample of the Eiffel Tower, but any photo could be placed there as well as the two other photo holders.

Brushes was done in Photoshop with a series of special brushes and colors with several layers.

Final Project Proposal

Project Title: Keeping Your Memories, Photobook layout designs

Project Summary: The project will have two separate books, one with about 5 different sheets for the Photobook. I will use some of the design that were created during the course as well as some new designs to highlight portfolio work. The second book will be for client books that can be used for create your own photobooks sheets as one does on popular photo sites such as Snapfish and York. I’ll be creating a logo for my portfolio book design; but using photo layouts for the cover of the other book.

Software Applications: I will be using Photoshop and Illustrator to create the pages and designs. I will be doing layout through InDesign.

Project Goal: The goal for my project is to design a format to highlight the design work and photography work I do. The target audience for my portfolio book will be for a future employer or freelance project I pursue. The target audience for the second book is geared more toward friends and family who may wish to have photobooks created by images that I shoot for them.

Presentation: There will be still images put together as an ebook, ready for print, and burnable on to a CD.

In addition, please clarify the total amount of design pieces your final project will consist of.

There will be two books created, one book with about 8 pages; the second book with about 20 pages.

What's Your Story

My 3rd and final image for Brown's Jewelers is about Pandora charms again. The theme behind Pandora is that each bracelet becomes individualized based on the tastes, likes, hobbies and special moments of the owner. With that, I decided to go with a "What's your Story" - I took a photo of my Pandora bracelet in an S shape (for story). In Photoshop I polarized the repetition of "What's Your Story". I used the Penhurst font, which reminded me of old storybook style font. As a background, I used a variety of artistic brushes with two different colors. The image of the bracelet, I created an outline around the bracelet and then placed a mask over the top of that so only the S is viewable. I used the Dodge and Burn tools to blend in the bracelet to the best of my ability. I also reintroduced the logos that I had already made in Illustrator.

Design Competition

This is the 2nd image for a pseudo jewelry shop. This is another image that I did in a photo shoot. I took photos of some jewelry pieces I have. From the original image, I selected two areas to highlight in the Estate Jewelry pieces. I kept them colorized by creating a new layer for each one and made a polaroid-style border around them. After that, I merged those layers and warped the image a little to make it look like photos are slightly dog-eared or turned up. Back to the original image, I converted it to gray scale and adjusted the levels, followed by reducing the opacity to 90%. The logos of "Pieces of Me" and "Brown's" were both done in Illustrator.
